District closes several recreation sites because of flooding

The following recreation sites are temporarily closed because of flooding from recent storms:

Econfina Creek Water Management Area

Rattlesnake Lake North
Rattlesnake Lake South
Sparkleberry Pond

The sites will re-open when it is safe for the public to access them.

While those sites are closed, other day-use and camping sites within the Econfina Creek and Choctawhatchee River/Holmes Creek water management areas remain open.

Along Econfina Creek, the Econfina Blue Spring recreation site has stair access to Blue Spring as well as picnic pavilions, portable toilets, and plenty of room for outdoor activities. Located approximately 1.5 miles north of State Road 20 and accessed from Blue Spring Road North, the site also features reservable campsites which are available for free on the District’s online reservation system.

Along Holmes Creek, the highly popular Cotton Landing Recreation Site remains open (both day-use and overnight camping). Cotton Landing provides quick paddling access to Cypress Spring.
