Water Supply Grants

Water Supply Development Program Summary

From fiscal years 2014-2017, the Northwest Florida Water Management District administered a water projects grant program that awarded $21.6 million in water supply development grant funding for 70 projects. This funding was matched with more than $9.4 million from grantees and partner agencies, totaling more than $30 million of water supply investment in communities across northwest Florida. These projects have helped local governments and utilities make potable water distribution system improvements, replace aging infrastructure, evaluate and develop alternative water supply projects, and address local drinking water quality issues. Nearly three quarters (71 percent) of the projects were in rural or financially disadvantaged communities.

All funding awards were completed in November 2016 and no future grant cycles are planned at this time. As of December 2018, 61 projects have been completed, seven are currently under construction, and two are in the design and permitting phase.
