Overview

Located off Enfinger Road just two miles south of State Road 20 and two miles north of Highway 388, Wolf Pond South recreation site provides camping opportunities as well as access to the Wolf Pond Equestrian Trail.

The equestrian trail is 13.5 miles long, and  was established by the District and volunteers from local saddle clubs in order to designate around 45 miles of trails in the Econfina Creek Water Management Area.

The connected trails are a visual delight for riders. The area contains as many as 50 lakes of various sizes (from one acre to 600 acres). More than 400 flora species have been identified in the area.

Riders are reminded to stay on marked trails and to avoid disturbing vegetation on slopes, lake shores, and stream banks. The Northwest Florida Water Management District manages this land to protect water resources. The District has planted millions of longleaf pine trees in the area to help restore the lands to their original condition. The sandhill area is an important recharge area for Econfina Creek.
