Overview

Located approximately 12 miles north of Gulf Breeze and 13 miles south of Milton, Garcon Point South features access to two hiking trails – 1.2 and 1.5 miles long – and is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.

Visitors will be treated to sights of pitcher plants, wiregrass, and as many as 13 rare or endangered species of plants and wildlife.

Among the highlights for nature lovers is the sight of the rare white-topped pitcher plant.

The District conducts prescribed burns on this parcel to protect the water resources in the area and help stimulate the growth of a natural habitat. The prescribed burns have created an ideal environment for toothache grass and wiregrass.

The trail is located on Route 191 and sits between Escambia and Blackwater bays on Avalon Boulevard Frontage Road/Garcon Point Road. Parking for Garcon Point South is located at the trailhead.
